Sand Motor Fieldtrip

 

The Sand Motor exists for 10 years this year. Friday afternoon this anniversary will be celebrated with a fieldtrip around the Sand Motor. This trip takes place on Friday afternoon from 14:00 to 17:30, followed by a BBQ at beachclub Birds to end the conference. You can choose between two options: hiking around the lagoon of the Sand Motor with several stops and short presentations, or cycling between the dunes to Hoek van Holland, also with several stops and presentations. Cyclist can choose between a normal bike or an electric bike.

Stop 1: Aeolian transport (Sierd de Vries)
Stop 2: Argus tower, Sand motor evolution (Kathelijne Wijnberg)
Stop 3: Dune erosion, scarp formation (Paul van Wiechen, Cas van Bemmelen)

Bicycle (25 km)
Stop 1: Sand Motor
Stop 2: Spanjaardsduin (Bert van der Valk)
Stop 3: Noordendam (Ronald Waterman)

17:30:  Return at Beach Club Birds
18:00-20:30: BBQ and drinks

Parking
Free parking is available at the Machiel Vrijenhoeklaan 450, 2555 NW Den Haag. 

Shuttle Bus
Also a shuttle bus from Delft central station and The Hague central station to the beach will be provided. This bus will als travel back at 20:45 after the BBQ.

Registration
The fieldtrip is available to Coastal Dynamics 2021 delegates and Sand Motor delegates. Registration for this event can be done via the conference registration form. The cost are €70,- inlc BBQ and drinks. Registration closes on the 24th of June.
