Coastal Award Winner 2021

Based on the votes from a long list of distinguished coastal scientists Bob Guza was elected as this year's Coastal Award recipient. R.T. Guza is Emeritus Professor at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UCSD. He has an impressive and long career in coastal science: from his B.A. in Physics at Johns Hopkins University in 1969 through his Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography at Scripps in 1974 followed by a post-doc at Dalhousie University in 1975 and then continuing at Scripps until today. He has a wide range of research topics in his portfolio; coastal oceanography; nonlinear surface waves; pollution transport and dilution in the surf zone; beach and cliff erosion; regional wave networks; and beach cusps. He is (co)author of 182 publications and has (co)supervised 21 PhD theses and several post-docs.
